Website Health Check

Most business websites don’t fail because they’re ugly.

They fail because they quietly stop doing their job.

A website health check is not about trends, fancy design, or ticking boxes. It’s about answering one simple question:

Is your website helping your business — or getting in the way?

Here’s what we actually look for when we check a website.

1. First impressions (the 10-second test)

When someone lands on your website, they make a decision very quickly:

Am I in the right place? Can I trust this business?

We look at:

  • Can you immediately tell what the business does?

  • Is it clear who it’s for?

  • Is there an obvious next step (call, WhatsApp, enquiry)?

If a visitor has to think too hard, they leave. This matters more today than ever, especially on mobile.

2. Mobile experience (this is no longer optional)

Most people now visit websites on their phones. We check:

  • Does the site load quickly on mobile?

  • Is text readable without zooming?

  • Are buttons easy to tap with a thumb?

A website that “works on mobile” but feels awkward or slow is losing enquiries every day.

3. Speed and reliability

People expect websites to be fast. Not eventually — immediately.

We look for:

  • Slow loading pages

  • Large images that haven’t been optimised

  • Hosting issues that cause downtime

Today’s internet users are impatient. If your site feels sluggish, they won’t wait.

4. Clear messaging (not clever wording)

We’re not looking for clever slogans. We’re looking for clarity.

We check:

  • Is the language simple and human?

  • Are services explained clearly?

  • Does the website answer common questions without forcing a phone call?

Websites that try to sound impressive often forget to be helpful.

5. Trust signals

People don’t just buy services — they buy confidence.

We look for:

  • Real contact details

  • Testimonials or reviews

  • Signs the business is active and legitimate

If your website feels anonymous or outdated, visitors hesitate.

6. Enquiry paths (how people actually contact you)

Forms that don’t work. Emails that bounce. Phone numbers you can’t tap.

We test:

  • Contact forms

  • Email links

  • Phone and WhatsApp buttons

If someone wants to reach you and can’t, the website has failed — no matter how good it looks.

7. The basics behind the scenes

Without getting technical, we also check:

  • Is the site secure?

  • Is it being backed up?

  • Is it being maintained?

Problems here often show up at the worst possible time.

The point of a health check

A website health check isn’t about judging your site.

It’s about spotting small issues before they become expensive ones.

Most fixes are simpler than people expect — once you know where to look.

If your website hasn’t been checked in a while, it’s probably overdue.
